                                Background

I am a faculty member at Georgia Southern University where I teach for both the Department of Music and the Department of Leadership, Technology & Human Development.  Here at Georgia Southern, I serve as a university supervisor for Music Ed student teachers, teach coursework in Aural Skills and Elementary Music Methods and guide both undergraduate and graduate independent study in Composition.  For LTHD I teach Educational Technology Integration to pre-service teachers, a fully online course.

While at Texas Tech University, I taught Essential Elements of Music to pre-service teachers and supervised Music Ed student teachers.  I was also an assistant under the direction of Dr. Susan Brumfield with the West Texas Children's Chorus, for whom I arranged several choral pieces.  My research interests include Brazilian folk songs and dances, enhancing music education for children, Appalachian and Ozark music and music education history in the church and school.  In addition to teaching and research, I continue composing and arranging for performance groups and am currently preparing a second book for publication.
